Spend 7 days traveling remote outback tracks, both on foot and by 4wd. You'll
experience South Australia's remote outback wilderness whilst enjoying the best hiking
trails in the Flinders Ranges National Park, Vulkathunha – Gammon Ranges National
Park & Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary.

Trip Itinerary:


Days 1 - Wilpena Pound & Flinders Ranges National Park


Get underway with a 7 am early morning departure from Adelaide.


Journeying North from Adelaide we'll travel though the Claire Valley and drop into a few
unique outback towns before entering the Southern foothills of Flinders Ranges.
Acknowledging the homelands of Adnyamathanha we'll explore two cultural significant
sites before arriving at Wilpena pound where we will camp for the first two nights.


Hikes include:


Arkaroo Rock, Adnyamathanha art site hike – 2 hrs (3km)
Sacred Canyon Adnyamathanha stone carvings – Short walk


Camping with toilet & shower facilities.


Day 2 – Tandarra Saddle day hike & explore Wilpena Pound


St Marys Peak loop trail to Tandarra Saddle – Full day hike, 9 hrs (19km)


Shorter options are available for those that wish to have a more relaxing day exploring
Wilpena pound with short walks from camp.


Day 3 - Hikes, 4wd tracks & Vulkathunha National Park


Journey through the Flinders Ranges along scenic 4wd routes taking in Bunyeroo
Gorge, Brachina Gorge & Aroona Valley, considered by many to be the most beautiful
place in the Southern Flinders Ranges.


In the afternoon we'll be approaching the more remote Gammon Ranges also known as
Vulkathunha National Park where we camp for the next two nights whilst exploring the
area.

Short walks in Flinders Ranges National Park – Approx 5 km hiking


Day 4 – Day hike, Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park


Our hike today is a full day circuit within Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park
that includes the stunning Weetootla Gorge and Grindells Hut. This is a moderately
challenging walk, with historical interest and varied natural landscapes and unlike
anything you are likely to have encountered before. We have all day on the trail.

Days 5 & 6 Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary


Arkaroola is a remote private wilderness retreat and an important conservation reserve
owned by the Sprigg family. Arkaroola has so much to offer avid bushwalkers, four wheel
drivers, naturalist's and geologist's and over our last few days we'll explore the best of
the property.


Our hikes at Arkaroola include:


Bararanna Gorge Walk - 10 km hiking trail
Acacia Ridge hike - 6 km

Griselda Hill – Approx 2km return, but steep!
Mawson Trial – Approx 4 km


Optional Activities whilst at Arkaroola include:


Ridgetop 4wd tour $150
Observatory tour $50


Camping with access to toilets and showers.


Day 7 – Copley, Parachillna & travel onto Adelaide


A big day traveling today with stops at iconic out back towns and if time permits and
we're traveling well a short hike at Mambray Creek National Park.


Mambray Creek walk up to 5 km.

We arrive in Adelaide around 6:00 – 6:30pm.
